Steel structural systems are a very popular form of construction for multi-storey buildings, as they offer great flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The height of a building is relative and cannot be defined in absolute terms, depending on the height or the number of floors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, from the point of view of a structural engineer, a tall or multi-storey <\/strong>building can be defined as one that, by virtue of its height, is affected by lateral forces due to wind or earthquakes. Structural engineering aims to ensure the stability and strength of constructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evolution of tall buildings is closely linked to the development of cities. The process of urbanization, which began during the industrialization period, is still developing in countries such as India. Industrialization was driven by the migration of people to urban centers where employment opportunities are significant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technological progress has led to the development of efficient, high-strength materials, such as wrought iron and, later, steel<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In developed countries, a very large percentage of multi-storey buildings are built of steel. The use of this material for multi-storey constructions has multiple advantages for both builders and users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
