Over time, deficiencies of the UNP channel have been found, especially in cross geometry and rigidity, depending on the mass. Thus, the UPE channel series was created to complete the traditional U profile series. It is important to note that the size of the products in this range corresponds to the nominal height “h” of the IPE beams, which allows these to be used together.
In construction, the UPE channel corresponds largely with a UNP profile, the difference is that the UPE has parallel and widened flanges as opposed to the standard product which has oblique edges. UPE completes the series of IPE profiles, as the nominal heights have been adjusted.
Benefits:
Although a UPE channel has wider and thinner wings than a UNP, it maintains the same mechanical characteristics.
For the same strength, the use of UPE channel in structures offers a weight decrease of up to 30% compared to UNP channel .
These benefits may reduce construction and maintenance costs by more than 10%.
